What I suspect will happen now is there will be a flood of interest in what the G8 Summit is and then - nothing. Perhaps there will be most protest marches (possibly) but then I don't think there will be much else.

I wish I had a much more positive outlook on the world and the human race, but lately, I haven't had a whole lot of faith in the world.

Sokari Ekine, founder of Afrotecnik, which focuses on technologies to bridge digital divides in Africa, is the blogger behind Black Looks, a comprehensive site with links to other African websites and blogs. A Nigerian, she has commented on Live8 in the past highlighting frustration that leading African artists were “relegated to performing in a village somewhere in Cornwall”. But she chose to give the last word to a G8 poem penned by 9-year-old Sena Anyomedie from Accra.

G8 leaders know nothing about life

They live in a bubble created by their wealth

Come to Africa and learn of life to struggle before

the sun is up

To feel like life is not worth living

Poverty is the basis of the African struggle

When poverty is gone, Africa will become what it

should be

The world’s greatest continent.

The divisions keep growing, the stupidity of polarization goes against the entire nature of what organizations like the G8 are supposed to be doing - well, at least, what they claim they should be doing. And, my faith in people (in general, not anyone specifically) has been strained. The outpouring of financial help from the tsunami in December was like a candle in a dark forest. More needs to be done and not just in a quick "save the whales" kind of way. It needs to be constant. It needs to be repeated daily. There is a lot in this world I would love to change, but I am already committed to many different causes, but my time is eaten up supporting them all.

podcasting

What else do I do? I talk out loud, record it, and post it on line. I chatter about all kinds of things. Some of the things are nerdy, some professional, and some of them are very much NSFW. Why? Because do them for myself and my non-work life. You can be the judge.
