Browncoats Rise Again
I noticed the web site Brown Coats Rise Again and thought it was a decent idea. But, it looks like the project died and for good reason.
I got lots of well thought out responses and flames for our fund-raising idea to re-light Firefly. It brought out a lot of bitterness in people that I simply did not expect. It also brought a lot of generosity and love I didn't fully expect either.
We stopped taking donations today, not because of the bitterness, but because of a television producer who got a hold of me and taught me a little more about the inside of the television world. It was an authentic perspective I was not aware of.
It's about not being an albatross around Joss' neck. A lot of decisions in Film/TV are made on an emotional level. We were approaching this entirely from a logical level (nerds that we are). It was made clear to me that a decision maker would react badly to fan's money being involved in the production no matter how it was presented.
So, after a night of tossing and turning, I woke up this morning and decided to close down the fund-riasing portion of our campaign before it got really big and impossible to stop. I just completed refunding everyone's money. I closed the account so no more money would come in.
We do have several other ideas to continue our campaign and help with DVD sales and marketing those numbers to the decision makers. Our campaign has just begun, now with an even stronger front. I hope to partner with other Browncoats in the 'verse to make this happen.
Again, thank you all for your input and support. Look for an update by early next week!

Waking Up Like Being Drunk
CNN is reporting that waking up in the morning is like being drunk. I can justify myself every morning now! I am not a morning person and am always being made fun of due to my groggy behaviour. I now have proof it is not my fault. Aren't we all looking to find something to blame our behaviour on?
"For a short period, at least, the effects of sleep inertia may be as bad as or worse than being legally drunk," said researcher Kenneth Wright of the University of Colorado at Boulder.
That befuddled feeling usually lasts for at least a few minutes but may be detectable for up to two hours, Wright wrote in a report published in this week's issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.
Taiwan Breeds Green Pigs
Look out, jelly fish pigs.
Scientists in Taiwan say they have bred three pigs that glow in the dark.
They claim that while other researchers have bred partly fluorescent pigs, theirs are the only pigs in the world which are green through and through.
The pigs are transgenic, created by adding genetic material from jellyfish into a normal pig embryo.
The researchers hope the pigs will boost the island's stem cell research, as well as helping with the study of human disease.
The researchers, from National Taiwan University's Department of Animal Science and Technology, say that although the pigs glow, they are otherwise no different from any others.
Taiwan is not claiming a world first. Others have bred partially fluorescent pigs before. But the researchers insist the three pigs they have produced are better.

Scorpions Lyrics: Rock You Like A Hurricane
I have been getting in touch with my "younger self". I have chosen to go out and purchase some of the old music I used to listen to. Today, I present the tune of the day by the Scorpions. Rock out, dude.
Rock You Like a Hurricane Lyrics
It's early morning
The sun comes out
Last night was shaking
And pretty loud
My cat is purring
And scratches my skin
So what is wrong
With another sin
The bitch is hungry
She needs to tell
So give her inches
And feed her well
More days to come
New places to go
I've got to leave
It's time for a show
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
My body is burning
It starts to shout
Desire is coming
It breaks out loud
Lust is in cages
Till storm breaks loose
Just have to make it
With someone I choose
The night is calling
I have to go
The wolf is hungry
He runs to show
He's licking his lips
He's ready to win
On the hunt tonight
For love at first sting
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
Favourite Names
I have been chatting with a few friends about names and what our names mean. A web site called Behind The Name has a great database of information regarding names, their popularity (in different years) and other little tid bits.
Here are some names I thought would be good:
1. Fearghas Hamlet
2. Kyros Clytia
3. Arwen Dilbert
4. Legolas Malvolio
5. Filip Vinko
and
6. Nkruma Immanuel Aydin Gunther
Apparently, I shouldn't name people. Oh, and I looked up my name and someone said about the name "Shane":
"It is a cool name."
Someone else concluded:
"It is a better name for a girl."
I have open invitations for people to hunt down the second commentor and have them tickled to death.
