How To Find Someone Using Web 2.0: Angus Lithgow Located
For a number of years, I have had an urge to reconnect with people I had known growing up. I wanted and see what they were doing and find out what they are like as adults. Two people I knew very well were Lockhart Fulton (who also goes by Lock) and Angus Lithgow (who, from time to time, went by Gus). We were a trio of sorts and hung out regularly. We did all manner of things that young kids do: goof off, attempt to stay up late, listen to music, and we also made a few "Indiana Jones" straight-to-video featurettes - or, whatever they were supposed to be. But, like a lot of friends, we drifted apart and went our own ways - I do believe this parting of the ways is called "puberty". Angus moved off to another town (can't recall where) and Lock headed off to Calgary before the end of high school. It was 1986.
The late 90's saw Lockhart move to Vancouver to attend the Vancouver Film School. I had recently graduated from the University of Victoria and had gone into business for myself building web sites - something I had found I was good at. While visiting the client in Vancouver, I contacted Lockhart and, after a few beers in a Vancouver pub, he said to me: "I wonder what Angus is doing?" We looked him up and did manage to visit with Angus, but only for a short few hours. That was 1998.
The years continued on and I ended up moving from Victoria to Vancouver. It wasn't until 2005 that I realized Angus might still be living in Vancouver. So, only a few short weeks ago, I thought it might be interesting to try and find someone using my blog. The phone numbers I found had come up disconnected and I could not locate any valid addresses.
I am happy to report, my little plan to locate Angus Lithgow has worked. Web 2.0 technology has allowed me to locate someone when all other leads had come up dry.
Here is the proof I required:
lets see so many memories to choose from to proove it... hmmm.. did you go to Blue Jay before P.M.S. too? cause I swear we've known each other since we were knee high to flies.. you played on the Landsdown Boomers soccer team too.. shooting a spoof of raiders of the lost arc in my yard in metchosin being one of the later memories...
- Angus Lithgow
Ah, the memories of childhood. Only Angus would have been able to conjure these memories. Angus! Welcome back to the flock...now, off to find Lockhart. And, Angus, I will be dropping you a line very soon.

Family Guy: Okay, I Am Addicted
Oh, gak. Here I am again admitting I like to watch television after spending so much time speaking out against the glass teat. I suppose I don't really watch television, I just...watch the programming on the Internet from other shall-never-be-named sources.
Thus, I do declare Family Guy is an entertaining romp. Do watch it, you can't go wrong. It is funny with funny poured on it.

RamboTown
A friend of mine, a shark hunter banished to the landlocked London sector of Ontario, sent this little tidbit to me today - RamboTown.
Let me briefly introduce myself to you: As you can easily see, I'm a huge fan of the first Rambo movie. I like this movie so much, that I travelled from Germany to Canada in November 2004 just to get to all the filming locations of "First Blood". And I can tell you, it was worth it.
Besides, the town of Hope where the film takes place is a nice place too. Even if you're not interested in the movie, it's definitely worth a visit and you can spend a great time there. So to let you take part in my experiences and to give you a little insight in the making of "First Blood" in Hope, I did what I`ve always wanted to do: A website about "First Blood"...
It is a site filled with all kinds of great information about this movie. First Blood was a GOOD film. I would check out the First Blood film and the book.

The Hope of More Class-M Planets
It looks like there are potentially 11 star systems (or "habitable stellar systems") for us Earthlings to check out in the next few hundred years...or few thousand years.
Margaret Turnbull of the Carnegie Institution in
Washington singled out eleven "habitable stellar systems" out of the
estimated 400 billion stars in our galaxy. Five of them are most likely
to garner results for those searching for radio signals from
intelligent civilizations and six are most likely to reward astronomers
trying to actually see an earth-like planet.Turnbull said she limited her selection to stars most like our own
Sun, using criteria such as how old the star is and how much iron
content it has.She said, "These are places I'd want to live if God were to put our planet around another star."
I am a huge science fiction fan and I am always interested in what NASA or other space agencies are up to. In recent years, they have been doing a lot of great space projects like the Mars Rovers and other such research. It excites me because I would like to travel in space and, who knows, I may get my chance.
I love space - and not because William Shatner is the coolest Starfleet Captain ever.

Yes, I Am A Browncoat
If those of you out there hadn't noticed, I am an obsessive fan of Firefly and Serenity. I have talked about this before, and again, and yet again. I have also been chatting about how evil television is - but, when it comes to Firefly and Serenity - I don't care. Get me a large screen television and a comfy couch and I will be lost for the entire 16 hours of Firefly canon material.
Today, I received an e-mail about some updates to Browncoats Rise Again. It has been slightly redesigned and is helping to suggesting some new ways to promote the show. I think anyone who reads this web site should purchase the show (or at least rent it for a weekend) and check it out. It is really good science fiction and should not be missed as it is unique in the television genre.
Enough on that for now. Back to bed.
