How To Find Someone Using Web 2.0: Angus Lithgow Located
For a number of years, I have had an urge to reconnect with people I had known growing up. I wanted and see what they were doing and find out what they are like as adults. Two people I knew very well were Lockhart Fulton (who also goes by Lock) and Angus Lithgow (who, from time to time, went by Gus). We were a trio of sorts and hung out regularly. We did all manner of things that young kids do: goof off, attempt to stay up late, listen to music, and we also made a few "Indiana Jones" straight-to-video featurettes - or, whatever they were supposed to be. But, like a lot of friends, we drifted apart and went our own ways - I do believe this parting of the ways is called "puberty". Angus moved off to another town (can't recall where) and Lock headed off to Calgary before the end of high school. It was 1986.
The late 90's saw Lockhart move to Vancouver to attend the Vancouver Film School. I had recently graduated from the University of Victoria and had gone into business for myself building web sites - something I had found I was good at. While visiting the client in Vancouver, I contacted Lockhart and, after a few beers in a Vancouver pub, he said to me: "I wonder what Angus is doing?" We looked him up and did manage to visit with Angus, but only for a short few hours. That was 1998.
The years continued on and I ended up moving from Victoria to Vancouver. It wasn't until 2005 that I realized Angus might still be living in Vancouver. So, only a few short weeks ago, I thought it might be interesting to try and find someone using my blog. The phone numbers I found had come up disconnected and I could not locate any valid addresses.
I am happy to report, my little plan to locate Angus Lithgow has worked. Web 2.0 technology has allowed me to locate someone when all other leads had come up dry.
Here is the proof I required:
lets see so many memories to choose from to proove it... hmmm.. did you go to Blue Jay before P.M.S. too? cause I swear we've known each other since we were knee high to flies.. you played on the Landsdown Boomers soccer team too.. shooting a spoof of raiders of the lost arc in my yard in metchosin being one of the later memories...
- Angus Lithgow
Ah, the memories of childhood. Only Angus would have been able to conjure these memories. Angus! Welcome back to the flock...now, off to find Lockhart. And, Angus, I will be dropping you a line very soon.
