System Administrator Appreciation Day

Is is that time of year again - System Administrator Appreciation Day! If you have a technology department (you know, those "nerds" down in the basement that don't like talking to you) today is the day to show them you care. I am sure many don't realize just how smart these people have to be in order to do what it is they do. They have to deal with technology hardware, software, and all kinds of network technology to make your clicking of buttons as simple as possible.

Sure, some of them may lack in personality and human communication skills but, really, how many people do they really need to talk to in a day - barely any. Their major conversations happen in air-conditioned rooms with blinking lights and spinning hard drives. Try staring at a server rack for six hours in a row and you'll begin to understand why they get a little crazy.

So, head on down to the basement, shake a few hands, give them some beer, munchies, and McDonald's Happy Meal toys and you'll have happy server techs for the next year. And, as you may or may not know, I used to be one of them.

Just in case you didn't know, I co-wrote Blogging For Dummies! Before you send me any congratulations, questions, flowers, or blow me any number of kisses  - why don't you go buy ten copies and make me rich and famous.

Or you could just buy a copy since it is a really good book and it has loads of great information for those of you out there who want to jump into blogging because it is fun and exciting.

podcasting

What else do I do? I talk out loud, record it, and post it on line. I chatter about all kinds of things. Some of the things are nerdy, some professional, and some of them are very much NSFW. Why? Because do them for myself and my non-work life. You can be the judge.
