My /Now Page
I have created this page to assist me in my allocation of my time and energy. It serves as a reminder to myself where I need to go next. If I am lost, confused, or just out of sorts about what I should be doing, this page will help me to remind myself that I have goals to achieve. I will update this page and adjust its mandate as I work on this process.
My Daily Themes
These are my Daily Themes. Every day has one so that it triggers my overarching focus for that particular day of the week. My Daily Themes are defined as follows, with dates established for those themes in parentheses:
- MONDAY: Optimization Day (January 2018)
- TUESDAY: Deep Work Day (October 2017)
- WEDNESDAY: Audio/Video Day (December 2017)
- THURSDAY: Self Education Day (December 2017)
- FRIDAY: Administrative Day (November 2017)
- SATURDAY: Family Day (December 2017)
- SUNDAY: Planning Day (December 2017)
My Three Words For 2018
What exactly do I mean when I say: "my three words". It sounds like a hokey religion, doesn't it? The concept around having three words as a pseudo-mantra for one's year is simple: if you have a simple keyword reminder available to you, it will allow you to step back and refocus when you are feeling overwhelmed or a bit lost. Here are my three words for this coming year.
I spend a lot of my time reacting to things. It is the nature of my industry: build and maintain. The maintaining sucks a lot of my focus because it is important work. It is also work that goes unnoticed... but that is a good thing. If no one notices, I must be doing my job like a god-like monster. This year, I want to turn my reactions into actions.
I need to build things for me. I haven't done this for a long time. I wrote a book a couple of years ago but that has been about it. I am wanting to build something that I can be proud of and share with anyone who is interested. I am still working on this as I have some secret projects on the go.
Believe it or not, I am a quiet type of guy. When I am with friends and people I know, I am comfortable to be more like myself. When faced with people I don't know well, I revert to my default mode which is introspective and quiet.
This NOW Page Thing
The NOW page is simply a reminder. When I feel like I am a bit lost and wandering, I can hit up this page and figure out what the next thing is. It is a process not a destination... even though it kind of is a destination. You know what I mean. No, really. You do.
